1 Peter 2, rejected by the world but chosen by God.

For those that believe, God is our protector and our foundation. Thru Jesus Christ we are united with believers as a temple.

This is about The Good, The Bad, and The Christian Family.

What does it mean to be “living stones” in 1 Peter 2?

When Peter says in 1 Peter 2:4, “As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him”, he is referring to Jesus Christ as the living Stone.  In 1 Peter 2:5, “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”, he is referring to believers as living stones.

God is building a spiritual house with his Son, Jesus Christ, the “living Stone.”  This Stone is eternal.  Jesus Christ is the foundation.  So, “living stones”, are believers that have placed their lives on that foundation.

No one will have eternal life that does not lay their lives upon Jesus Christ as the foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11), “For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

(Acts 4:11-12)  ” This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

(1 Peter 2:7-9)  “7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”

8 and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Gods special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Believers, as a living stone, we are called to live our lives in a way that others may see the light of God within us.  We are to “declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
